Overall Completion Percentage

In the pull out tab on the left side, there is a leaderboard for Overall Completion. This number is different from the percentage shown when cloud saving.

This page is just documenting some small tests to see what factors determine this percentage.

My methodology is to check the Overall Completion percentage (OC%) and cloud save just before it increments to the next number. In my case, my OC% is 53% and getting a single gold trophy changes the OC% to 54%.

Some experimental results:

Things that increase OC%:

- Getting a gold trophy in a Limited Time Series.
- Getting a gold trophy in a Bonus Series.
- Completing a time trial in a Bonus Series.

Things that do NOT increase OC%:

- Buying a car.
- Coming 1st in an OMP race.

Since LTS increase OC%, I'm goi…

V8 Supercars - Real life vs Real Racing

As we all know, all the cars in Real Racing 3 have unrealistic performances compared to cars in real life.

I decided to make a side-by-side comparison lap of Mount Panorama with the in-game 2017 Ford Falcon FG X and the real life 2004 Holden VY Commodore. I couldn't find a newer video of a V8 Supercar lapping Mount Panorama which included telemetry, but the 2004 Holden lapped Bathurst in around 2:08 while in 2016, they were doing 2:06.

Side-by-side comparison lap

2017 Ford Falcon FG X time: 1:50

2004 Holden VY Commodore time: 2:08

If you take a look at the braking points, the in-game V8 Supercar has terrible brakes compared to reality. This is especially noticable when braking for The Chase chicane. In real life, braking is done after the small…

Mr P's Power Laps

A list of my fastest laps around specific tracks.

1. Either a 4-lap race is completed 6 times OR a 3-lap is completed 8 times. The fastest lap gets put on the leader board.
2. No collisions with barriers or putting all four wheels off-track. Two wheels off-track is allowed.

Relationship Between Fame and R$

To calculate Fame from R$, take the R$, divide by 5.5 and then round up to the nearest 100.

For example, to calculate Fame for a race with a R$ reward of R$10,000, take 10,000 and divide by 5.5 to give 1,818.182. Rounding up to the nearest 100 gives 1,900 Fame.

The above formula is not exact but should give Fame within 100 points.

An exact formula will be difficult to calculate since two races with the same R$ reward do not necessarily give the same Fame reward. See: McLaren Generations 8.3 and 15.2.

On-track vs Partial Off-track Braking Test

With the Version 4.2 Update, many people noted that they couldn't match their lap times from before the update. LussoBerlinetta commented that there is a difference in braking distance when two wheels are off-track compared to all four wheels on-track.

Using the BMW M3 GT2 ALMS with all the R$ upgrades and driving on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway - Speedway course, I tested the time it would take to go from 0 - 250 km/h and then back to 0 km/h.

Acceleration was unchanged in both tests but braking clearly suffers with two wheels off-track. With all four wheels on-track, deceleration was approximately 1.2 g (11.9 m/s). With two wheels off-track, deceleration dropped to approximately 0.8 g (8.0 m/s). Deceleration was linear in both cases.

In t…
