We have a new WTTT thread each week, but new OMP weeks gets grouped in with old OMP threads. Some of those have a lot to do with cheats, hecking, etc., so lets keep that there if we could please. I would like this to be a more positive discussion.

    So share your insights, tips, thoughts or just fun that you are having out there;

    • How do you like the car line up this week??
    • Which do you prefer??
    • Is one great on one track, but poor on others??
    • Etc, etc.

      I'll start ;-)

This week shows that it's not always the car that's on the right that is best. Even at Spa, the lowest ranking car kills it!

You have to adjust your driving though. It's not just Eau Rouge that you can take flat out in this little beast... MANY corners can handle the high grip and low acceleration of this car full throttle.

I wonder about Le Mans though. The Maserati has a big top speed advantage. Maybe it will make up the gap there. Or maybe the Lamborghini will with it's much better acceleration. Indy Speedway has me wondering the same thing.

        Loading editor
    • The grip differential is massive.. You need to mess a lot to lose control of the Silvia.. Still, maybe Le Mans is too much, due to the high speed average..

BTW, what they did in Daytona, with the off-track detection is BS..

I expect that will be repealed once they figure out how to fix it. It makes absolutely no sense at all, so it must be an error.

I just remembered that there's two different types of off-track detection running in the game...

Have you ever tried to run a race perfectly so you had absolutely no deductions at the end of the race? To do that you can't even have one tire going off track. Whereas we can usually run 2 tires very far off track without getting disqualified or penalized. So that's the two types of off-track. The one that gets you a slight deduction in a career race and then the kind that disqualifies or penalizes you.

My guess is that something went wrong in the coding of that particular track in OMP. UNLESS... They gave an official response and that is the way it is from now on. Whoever that doesn't line up with even the rest of the corners on that very track. It just has to be a mistake!

        Loading editor
    • I’m glad it’s not just me who is experiencing odd off-track penalties at Daytona

      • 1st corner, put one wheel across the line on the inside of the corner ... penalty
      • Exiting the hairpin, put one wheel over the white line on the left ... penalty
      • Out of the corner onto the oval ... penalty

Pretty sure there are a couple other places.

But (as far as I remember) the same driving is ok in TTs ... unless they’ve just changed it?

Clean race is OK.. The issue is the inconsistency.. A small part of the tire in the grass.. BAM.. penalty.. After the hairpin, that curve to the left, is usual you bite the kerb and the grass in there.. Well, in OMP, that's a penalty..
It's the only track that have this behavior.. At least, is the only one I noticed that..

        Loading editor
    • I noticed it a couple of hours ago.  WTF.  I lost loads of OMP points, no big deal as I got them back on New York, but there needs tp be some consistency.  Some corners if you touch the white line = penalty, but can still run wide entering oval section without penalties... Needs fixing and/or consistency with TT.

        Loading editor
    • There is nothing to discuss. The bloody OMP is completely broken. Earlier the grid pairings used to be on the basis of the points all 8 players have. If you win the race, you win an acceptable number of points (unless someone DNFs) & if you lose a race then you lose a little more than you would earn. The points distribution was fair and progression was rewarded even at >1200 pts.

In the new format, I am being paired with players who have around the same PR on their cars with mine, points range from the lowly 500 to high 1k. If I lose the race, I lose almost 30% of my points and if I win the race then its peanuts. The progression is laughable above 1100 pts. I was just ran 3 races at the Porsche Test Track wherein everytime the highest points on the grid was around 600-700. Once the race ended, I had 0 points after finishing the races in 2:10-2:20 times whereas everyone else on the grid got between 100-20 pts.

I mean what the frack! I was made to go around the track willy nilly just to defend my points. What a waste of time.

        Loading editor
    • I’ve been saying the same thing. The pairing system doesn’t work properly. After the pairing screen it quickly shows the other players and their points before taking you to the pre-race screen whilst waiting for other players to connect. At that point, before the race has started, and until the lights show you should be able to quit the race without being declared DNF and losing lots of points ... if other players have less than 2/3 of your points then you’re likely to gain zero points even if you win the race but make the slightest mistake and don’t win and you’re likely to lose lots of points, this is clearly an absurd situation, who would choose to enter a race where the best-case scenario is to break even!?!

      Also ...

      • When the track is about to change the pairing system still shows the old track which is frustrating if you have the wrong car e.g. still displaying Silverstone so I kept the Nissan, then it switched to Indianapolis so I had the wrong car!
      • Why doesn’t it show the track variant? The first race at Indianapolis I wasn’t sure which car to pick because I didn’t know the variant ... I picked the wrong car!
      • Repeated failure of the throttle at the start of the race even when I have repeatedly tapped the screen and have my thumb on the screen when the race starts, if it were a TT I would abort and retry but I can’t do that in OMP as I’ll be declared DNF and lose lots of points.
      • Brake failure at the first corner which always results in flying off the track and losing time and then getting a slow-down penalty for leaving the track ... and if I’m really “lucky” hitting an edge-of-track wall for an additional longer collision slow-down penalty!

I kind of like OMP (much more than the old version) but these frustrations distract from what could be a fun part of the game.

Again, I want this thread to be about the good stuff in OMP and about the current week specific issues. That way people can come here for tips or a discussion about this week.

We certainly had issues with odd penalties @ Daytona this week, totally fits.

As far as general issues, why you think OMP doesn't work, etc, etc, etc... there are other threads for that. Such as OMP. Not Racing. Not worth the time. Odd Results. and also Online Multiplayer: I Never Thought I'd Say This...

Consider this. Did anyone here EVER win gold in OMP before??? Most likely not, as only the top 10 got paid and you often needed hacks or team mates blocking & hurting other people to make that work. Now you can run just one race and get 5 gold. Where else does that happen in the game??? 5 Curr.Gold.New.80x80.Shifted

      for 2 minutes of racing?!?!

Back to the intent of this thread

-The Maseratie dominates at Indy Speedway. No other car can touch it. The Lamborghini's feel like they have you beat until the exit of turn 2. After that point, the Maserati at is slowest is the Lamborghini at it's fastest. Meaning you only need to slow to 315 kph in the corners, while the Lamborghini can't hit 315kph here. Then the Maserati gets up to about 350 kph by the end of a straight.

I'm thinking the Maserati will be the car for Le Mans. The Silvia will be better in the last section of curves, but I think the Maserati will have way to much of a lead for it to matter.

    • ME7,

I gave a kudo for starting this thread. Two factors weigh against it though:

--While the 5 gold payout and collision fixes are admirable, there is little else that's good about OMP.  In short, the negatives (poor pairing, extreme loss of points with very few points for a win, etc.) far outweigh the positives. Until OMP is closer to 50% positives & negatives, people are going to continue to post negatives in well-intentioned threads like this, unfortunately.

--Because the negatives still outweigh the positives, participation in OMP is not what it should be. Its just not that popular yet.  Once they fix the rewards issue, we should see more participation.

And anyway, you should be working on your series completion for 100%, young man. Stop with the OMP. :-)

    • I like one thing about OMP- It gives me chance to drive some forgotten cars. Killing higher spec/speed cars with R3 spec is such a joy. Silverstone is just brutal, they go in front, and you come to them after like a raging shark, and leave- dust. Just crazy:) It is nice to get few GC's while doing this..;)

Edit: I am not bothered by points and rewards, I just play it while it fits me. I would drive that R3 spec for 0 fame/Gc , because it is hell of a fun. But this way beating real players, and earning some GC on the way- I am having a lot of fun. Cheers, keep racing and HAVE FUN!

    • OMP, while improved, still has a long way to go before I start spending time on it, especially at the current rate of additions to the game.

That being said, I did take the SilviaRRR around Spa, since both are wonderful.  It was even better than normal with watching the Maseratis pull away at the start only to pass them in the brake zone (if you can call it such for the SilviaRRR) into Les Combes, never to see hide nor hair from them again.  I do wonder what those players were thinking when I blew past :)  So far, I've got 5 gold allegedly coming to me for that joy.  I'm sure by the end of the week it will be 3 gold.

    • The present versions of OMP and WTTT are really enjoyable for average player like me.

in just a couple of weeks , I have graduated from full assists to SA high, TC off, BA low. In 3 years/2000+ hrs of rr3 never participated in omp/wttt. It was just bot management, lemans farming endlessly and elite rewards ! Now it is couple of hours a day on omp/wttt. Soon expect to drive without assists. There are 6 cars ( 2 on loan) and a whole range of tracks.   To practice. Not to mention about 25 gc/week. ( 7 omp+18wttt)

LOL. I am getting VERY far behind. I just got up the 2nd Flames vinyl video. I had to do LOTS of editting, both in audio and visual. But flames are only here for this update, then we wait for next year.

Then there's all the fun I am having in OMP. I love Indy Speedway. Many hate it, but I can drive that very clean. I had one race where I am sure everyone thought I was hacking. Nope, they were just having very bad races. Although this is one of my best times at Indy this week. 1200m lead at the line! Usually it's more like 50m to 200m. I knew I wouldn't earn points for this race but it was too late to do anything about that.

Spa was a hoot. My experience was the same. Nothing but Silvia's after Les Combes. I'm sure the Maserati's and Lamborghini's felt great until that point!

Flames can be done just fine with curves and/or racing vinyls, though the halloween ones do add some variety.  They can also be done with antlers next update :)  I love the antlers!

I am sorry ME7, are you seriously advocating the fact that masses getting 5-8GC in OMP is better & fairer w.r.t. better skilled players who are now forced to contend with 14-18GC whilst letting go of their potential to earn more?

The only thing required to fix was the cheating & ramming & FM did that. There was no reason to fix pairing logic & an absolute total of 0 race fans asked for it. The current logic demotivates players like us who had invested their time to earn GCs through skill. 3 laps of RBR with 600 pointers to earn 3 pts is atrocious.

As for the circuits & the cars, I do not see how the experience of driving them to their limits utilising their strengths is different now & before (apart from the ramming ofcourse).

Your IP address shows only 2 posts, so I have no idea who I'm talking to. I don't know if you are a roaming troll just posting things, or if you want a serious discussion. Based on your words it seems like you could have some great discussions, so I will try this again.

As I pointed out above, this isn't the thread to discuss the general OMP pluses and minuses. I have already provided a link to those threads. If neither suits you, then please feel free to start a new one.

For your consideration: Registering helps people to know you mean to get involved. It also separates you from the trouble makers.

Good point. If I blew one key corner at Spa I was done. Just too much momentum lost and it takes so long to get it. It certainly requires a disciplined approach.

    • I really like multi-lap races with the Silvia - the car just gets faster and faster as you explore that amazing grip potential. Yesterday I was finding corners where I didn’t even have to brake (maybe just lift off) where all other cars have to brake. So much fun!

It trounces the Maseratis and Lamborghinis on virtually all the circuits I played so far. Those driving a highly upgraded Trofeo, who pull away with ease from the start, must be getting pretty frustrated to see a Silvia flash past them in some chicane or corner combination!

The faster Maseratis are giving the Silvia a real good run for its money, they keep overtaking down all the long straights, but the Silvia is invariably able to catch up and overtake in the corners. Latest at the Porsche curves the Silvia takes the win.

I haven’t lost to a single Maserati at Le Mans today (only if I make a big mistake), but there have been some exciting duels all the way up to the Porsche curves!

    • I was looking forward to driving the Silvia around Melbourne, but I must admit I was rubbish - driving like a learner!!

So far I have only managed a win with the Maserati around Le Man, but I got a close second with the mighty Silvia!

      Have enjoyed this OMP.

I didn't run LeMans this week. In fact, I won't race again until next OMP. I got to 1135 in rating and just decided to leave it. I usually look forward to LeMans, but I would need to run some tests in none OMP to get the braking points right. One botched race and I'd lose a lot of points. I didn't realize it would be so tight between the Silvia's and Maserati's. So the worst car this week was the Lamborghini!

I hope Speed Junkie wins this week. It's looking good for him!

    • Are there cheats in OMP. I finished Suzuka 15 seconds behind a Silvia. My Silvia is FU and this player was pulling away easily from me in the straight? Another time a Lamborghini few over me and hovered in front of me an entire lap. Im top 1-5% each week in WTT.

OMP was loads of fun this week with the Silvia. I having been yoyoing in the rating, made it to 1159 points, then lost loads of points due to stupidity, driving errors, connectivity issues, ignorance ... there are so many ways to loose points, and getting them back is hard work.

Once you get to about 1000 points I think it is sensible to try to practise a circuit first, otherwise the potential for losing points at the beginning of the day with the new circuits is too high.

Anyhow, I made it back to 1161 yesterday (my best OMP result so far) and think I will quit while I’m ahead!

SpeedJunkie is looking pretty good in first place this week. I’m glad I didn’t get matched with him!

Yes there are some people who obviously have stat hacked cars. Pulling away much faster than other FUed cars is a sure sign.

      I report them!
