RR3 Wiki:Tips and FAQ for Le Mans: Legends

The intention of this page is to keep tips and FAQ for Le Mans: Legends (made up of Le Mans: Ford and Le Mans: Ferrari) in one place, which will hopefully help people race this event.

Description[]

Le Mans: Legends is an event in Real Racing 3. It gives the players a chance to win the FERRARI 488 GTE (2016) and FORD GT LE MANS (2016), after Le Mans 2016 Update (v4.3.1). Le Mans: Legends starts 13-June 00:00 UTC.[1]

The FERRARI 488 GTE (2016) and FORD GT LE MANS (2016) are both available in the GTE-Pro: Ford and Ferrari bonus series part of the Campionato Scuderia Ferrari career series in the Legend group.

The event comprises a wide range of cars, especially the FERRARI 488 GTE (2016) and FORD GT LE MANS (2016)

Tips and FAQ History[]

This is the fourth iteration of a tips and FAQ page:

Each time the tips have improved. Unfortunately due to the way forum posts and blogs work, only the originator RR3 Michael P or Guillejarque can edit the first entry. With Tips and FAQ for Le Mans: Legends anyone can edit this page, hopefully this will lead to many more editors adding useful content for everyone’s benefit.

General Tips[]

Strategy[]

Real Racing 3 is a massive game designed by FireMonkeys (FM) to make you want to spend real money on R$ and Curr.Gold.New.80x80.Shifted. Many in this Wikia community have posted comments what they have managed to reach the end of the game without spending any real money. The bottle neck currency is Curr.Gold.New.80x80.Shifted. Read this article on strategy for more information:

Time Shifted Multiplayer (TSM)[]

Read the following about how the time shifted multiplayer affects the AI of the bots, why it's important to win by small margins and how to slow bots down:

Methods to slow bots down[]

Track Recommended method to slow bots Damage Taken
Autocross Each time you run an Autocross event, set a slow time of of 4th or less, either retry or continue and re-enter. If you retry ignore the bot's names, that splash up before the race, they will be changed at the end of the race, you will notice, after each time of running, the target time is increased. If continuing doesn't increase the bot's time try repeating and vice a versa.

Do not set a low time at the line, tilt B will give better control to coast before the line, if you are too quick or brake and wait at the line, smashing the time will increase the AI.
Minimal
Cup
& NASCAR
As soon as the race starts, pause, retire, confirm, either retry or continue and re-enter, if you retry ignore the bot's names, that splash up before the race, they will be changed at the end of the race. Also ignore the bots times on the final screen too, they are based on an average lap time, as you quit their times are based on a standing start, as an average. Instead use the times as a guide, with each retry or continue the bots times should increase. If continuing doesn't lower the bot's time try repeating and vice a versa.

OR If you have a broken car run the race a few times, each time you lose you will still get R$ and Fame, place 4th or less, repeating or continuing and re-entering will lower the bot's.

Once ready to go, get to 1st place as quickly as possible and try to slow the bot's down, either spin them out or park in sharp bends / chicanes and stop them passing. By setting a low time, but still coming first, it's still possible to still lower the AI of bots, think about a Time Trial time, if you set a set a slow time it lowers the AI.

Minimal /None.
Drag Race Start the race, press go and leave the car is first gear, do not click repeat, as this will repeat the current race, against the same bot, instead choose continue, then either retry or continue and re-enter. You will see the opponents will change to lower ones.

Once ready to go, don't undo the lowing work by setting a fast time, instead use the gears to slow the car, once passed the bot go up through the gears, but watch the bot doesn't speed up / close the gap, or if close to the line go down a gear to brake.
Minimal
Elimination Elimination events are one of the best opportunities to lower the bots AI, deliberately lose a few times, do not move at the start (Tilt B), wait for the 20 second timer to run out, then repeat or continue and re-enter. You will see the opponent will change to lower ones. If you retry ignore the bot's names, that splash up before the race, they will be changed at the end of the race.

Once ready to go, get to first place and slow the bots as per the cup event.
None
Endurance Endurance events are one of the best opportunities to lower the bots AI deliberately lose a few times, change the controls to Tilt B, when the lights go green do not move, wait for the timer to count down the 60 seconds. Either retry or continue and re-enter. If you retry ignore the bot's names, that splash up before the race, they will be changed at the end of the race. Note the distance is reducing each time. If continuing doesn't lower the bot's distance try repeating and vice a versa. It's possible to get all 7 bots distance to 1.0 mi.

Another point, the online and offline bots can wildly vary on Endurance races, especially with fiends distance'. It's normally much better to race Endurance races offline, before going to the Endurance event go offline (aeroplane mode), if you've already started an Endurance race online, exit back to the main menu, if your logged into FB / G+ / Weibo, goto settings and logout, then force close, go offline and relaunch RR3, bots should now be offline ones.

Once ready to go, don't undo the lowing work by setting a good distance, instead once passed the 1st marker, park up (tilt B) and wait for the timer to count down.
None
Head To Head As soon as the race starts, pause, retire, confirm, either retry or continue and re-enter. Repeat multiple times, ignore the bot's time on the final screen, it is based on an average lap time, you can use it as a guide that the bot's time is reducing.

Once ready to go, don't undo the lowing work by setting a good time, instead once in 1st place, use the same technique as cup events, slow the bot down. Quite often a single bot will not push you once stopped, so you can easily hold it up for 20 seconds, then go for it. Wait at the line to reduced the time set, but still win.
1 lap of damage /None
Hunter As soon as the race starts, pause, retire, confirm, either retry or continue and re-enter, repeat multiple times, each time you repeat the distance to the 1st place will increase.

Once ready to go, don't undo the lowing work by setting a good distance, instead once passed the 1st place marker, slow down and maintain a small distance advantage ahead, when near the line slow to reduce the distance, but still win. It's also possible to spin out the NISSAN SILVIA (S15) to reach 1st, but be careful not to set a top distance. Final point, the NISSAN SILVIA (S15) can be on a different section as track from you, e.g. If 1st place marker is 1,000 yds behind. The NISSAN SILVIA (S15) could be going flat out down a straight while you’re in a hairpin or chicane, so the 1st place marker is going 1,000 yds behind the NISSAN SILVIA (S15), but travels at the same speed so doesn't slow for the chicane! The worst tracks have chicanes before the finish line, like Spa or Le Mans, learn from any losses, track knowledge will help in future events, sometimes waiting by the line is better, but be aware your stopped and 1st place marker could be going 120 MPH.
1 lap of damage /None
Time Trial Set a slow time, in a Series this event's cup does not count towards continuing your race career (i.e. it does not unlock the next Series). However it does count towards completing 100% of the Series.

Running a time trial with a broken car will therefore take no damage and lower the AI of bots.

Note: If you play against friends do not be tempted to upgrade your car and set faster times, as this will increase the AI of bots, you could always do this once you've bought all cars :)
1 lap of damage /None
Speed Record As soon as the race starts, pause, retire, confirm, either retry or continue and re-enter. Note the bot's time is reducing. If continuing doesn't lower the bot's speed try repeating and vice a versa.

Once ready to go, don't undo the lowing work by setting a high top speed, brake as soon as you hit 1st place's speed.

If your still struggling to reach first place, the start finish straight is normally the longest straight, you can do a U turn and drive the wrong way around the track, so once around the last turn, do another U turn, and blast down the straight, with all assists off, it doesn't matter if you fly off track at turn one. If the start/finish straight isn't the longest you can still use the no assists method to hit the top speed, again it doesn't matter if you fly off track. However once you reach 1st place brake, so you don't increase the AI of bots. In special events challenges there is quite often a no off track clause to stop this technique, forcing you to upgrade to hit the required speed.
Minimal /None
Speed Snap Speed Snaps are the same "parts of tracks" as Autocross, except you must hit a top speed at the line so set a top speed of 4th or less, the lower the better, then either retry or continue and re-enter. Note the top speed's are reducing each time. If continuing doesn't lower the bot's speed try repeating and vice a versa.

Once ready to go, do not set a high top speed at the line, tilt B will give better control to feather the throttle once at the 1st place' speed, this takes a bit of practice, smashing the top speed will increase the AI.

Start / End Strategy[]

The player has # days to complete the # stages, the event is # days x 24 hours. The first stage will start the time the player starts it, the last stage will end # x 24 hours later. As stage 01 is normally straight forward and can be completed without an upgrade or service, it can be started late in the day, it doesn't matter if stage 01 isn't completed the first day, it can continue the following day. The next stage 02, will unlock at midnight providing stage 01 is completed, stage 03 will unlock at midnight the following day, and so on up to stage #, in total there will be # x 24 hours = # hours to complete all stages.

You need to choose the best time for you to start Le Mans: Ford and Le Mans: Ferrari events, or more importantly when is the best time for you to end the event!

RR3 Michael P wrote (pre-race tip):
I wouldn't recommend starting the event on the first day, ~12-June, as many racers, who start as soon as the event opens, complain about bugs, which FM then fix! Instead leave the start a day or two and let other people do the bug testing. Also the tips and details can be filled in by the early adopters, so starting a day or two later gives a better heads up.

Ideally, for racers who are busy Monday to Friday and have the weekend free, the best day and time to start is as late as possible #day#, as long as it's before midnight, meaning stage # of the event can be completed over two days, the following Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately there maybe a short time to start this event! It maybe only open for two weeks, as the next release is expected 27-June. Keep an eye out for adverts to start the event and watch for a countdown to start. Once started the event can be run, even if it's closed to new racers. This event is expected to be need two repeated runs, to win the FORD GT LE MANS (2016) and FERRARI 488 GTE (2016).

Cloud Save / Restore[]

See the Firemonkeys website for full details on cloud save:

Firemonkeys.com.au Cloud Save FAQ

Firemonkey wrote:
Real Racing 3 automatically uploads your save data to the Cloud Servers once every 12 Hours. This means that if you have lost your save data, you can easily restore your previous game progress (including your purchases) and also transfer this save data between devices using the Cloud Save feature.

During events you can use the Cloud Save and Restore feature to your advantage. Before you start every event, manually do a Cloud Save, if you lose do a cloud restore, this will save a long service after the longer, endurance, cup and NASCAR events.

Once you win do another cloud save before you continue the next event, see the FAQ on Firemonkey's website:

It is very important to wait for the screen to display last updated seconds (or minutes) ago. If you have a message stating backup failed, wait another minute, a wheel will turn in the bottom right corner, the message will show last updated seconds (or minutes) ago and Backup to Cloud button will be greyed out too.

If backup still failed, return to the login screen, log off, wait 10 seconds and log on once more, click continue, wait 30 seconds for the login to complete, then try to backup once more.

If you still have problems: log off, then turn aeroplane mode on, wait 10 seconds, turn aeroplane mode off, wait 30 seconds for the wifi to reconnect, login, click continue, wait 30 seconds for the login to complete, then try to backup once more.

The final thing to try, force close the RR3 app, then with the Wifi on, relaunch RR3, then try to backup once more. If this still doesn't work, the FM server is probably having problems, again.

You can also use this technique to save on spending with gold, for example if you want to spend 1 gold on the mechanic, if you win, the mechanic will be used and the car condition will be maintained, but if you don't come first the gold is lost and the car condition will be reduced, if you cloud restore the car will be returned to it previous state and the gold spend (or even free mechanic) returned.

Note: Before you cloud restore, it is important to login into the same Social Profiles you had previously connected to Real Racing, when cloud saving. Especially if multiple Social Profiles are used!

FAQ[]

Car Service[]

How can I service the car when I already finished the day?

If you missed servicing your car after the final event on the day, the soonest you can service the car is at midnight (local time).

The Target is too High, How do I Reduce it?[]

When the speed or time or distance is too high or fast or long, there are several things that can be done to reduce the target

Make sure you cloud save before you start and after a handful of failed attempts try a cloud restore and retry the next method. Sometimes the AI is still reduced after the restore.

  • Try offline - if you've been online, you must do a force close too.
  • Try online - sometimes the AI target is different.
  • Try repeat, repeat , repeat, again lose by a big margin, don't come higher than 4th.
  • Try losing by a big margin, but don't retry, instead complete and then re-enter the race - this takes more time but works.

Sorry this takes so much time, but the AI will reduce. With a cloud restore it's quicker than a long service!

For example, I tried 11 times to reach 1st place:

The Game / Le Mans Keeps crashing[]

RR3 Michael P wrote:
If you are having problems loading Le-Mans, which is the biggest data track to load, close the game, go off line (aeroplane mode), try a complete shutdown (hold the power for 10 seconds, I think), then start back up, launch the game and turn the Heads-up Display (HUD) off. This helps on my Hudl.

I read a post suggesting using the RR3 Graphics app (AKA RR3 GFX) available from the Google Play Store, (then automatically updating it from their website). The poster advised Le Mans used to crash, but when the graphics is set low, using this app, it loads and plays fine:

When is the last time I can start this Event?[]

Closing date is June 22. As this event needs to be run twice to win the two cars, the first run is 7 stages, the second run is also 7 stages over 7 days (7 x 24 hours). The next release was expected Jun 27th, so is now possibly one week later.

Keep an eye out for adverts to start the event and watch for a countdown to start. Once started the event can be run, even if it's closed to new racers.

Will this event be added to the race career?[]

FM went though a spell of adding special events to the racing career, the last time a special event was added was September 2015 v3.6, NASCAR Academy was added directly to the NASCAR career, without previously being released as a Time Limited Event (TLE). Previous to that was April 2015 v3.3, with Redline: Origins and MotorFiesta 1. It is therefore unlikely this event will be added to the racing career.

Will the car be available to win in the future?[]

The FERRARI 488 GTE (2016) and FORD GT LE MANS (2016) are available to win if the challenge is completed in 7 days, for the first car. For the second car the event will need to be repeated, exact time is unknown, possibly 4 or 5 days. After June 23 both cars can be purchased.

The FERRARI 488 GTE (2016) and FORD GT LE MANS (2016) are both available in the GTE-Pro: Ford and Ferrari bonus series part of the Campionato Scuderia Ferrari career series in the Legend group.

Can I buy the car?[]

!  This section needs updating once the purchase price is known  !

The FERRARI 488 GTE (2016) and FORD GT LE MANS (2016) are both available in the GTE-Pro: Ford and Ferrari bonus series part of the Campionato Scuderia Ferrari career series in the Legend group.

These vehicles can each be acquired for 650 Curr.Gold.New.80x80.Shifted or 520 Curr.Gold.New.80x80.Shifted with showcase discount.

RomGuyony data from RR3 Wiki:Upgrades Strategy For 100% Completion:
...

The remaining two cars are winnable near the end of the update, in two sub-sections of Le Mans: Legends (Le Mans: Ford and Le Mans: Ferrari). It's expected a similar tactic will be used, though the costs, requirements and strategies are still unknown. This is continuing the theme of every new car requiring upgrades for 100% completion, with no pre-existing car having an impact, even when used alongside new cars.

As of yet, the series is still locked. It can be expected for both cars to require a minimum PR of 89, with one of them requiring a PR of 90. If that is the case, the following strategies would be cheapest:

This is due to the FORD reaching PR:89 with -2 Engine, Suspension & Brakes (567 Curr.Gold.New.80x80.Shifted & Curr.R.Dollars.New.80x80.Shifted1,951,100), while both cars have the same strategies for PR:90 (outlined above) and PR:91 (Fully-Upgraded - 1,017 Curr.Gold.New.80x80.Shifted & Curr.R.Dollars.New.80x80.Shifted3,940,200).

If both need to reach PR:90 and one needs to reach PR:91, it come down to user preference as to which car is upgraded further, as the cost in either combination is the same.

Won the FERRARI. All 6 challenges in stage 7 are PR 88. I am on 84.8 & it is very doable (just the fuel races where I had to try 3-4 times). All challenges are no off-track with one no colliding and two with limited fuel. Overall not a very difficult stage although can be a bit frustrating at times in the limited fuel races.

Was fine with R$ upgrades only until needing to hit 212 mph on Day 6 (but I had plenty of ads to shorten upgrade times.)

Powerup: I am not posting to brag, just for informational purposes by contributing my experiences to the wikia. After 2,000+ hours, I've gotten decent at the game, and as one of the lucky ones who has a reserve of thousands of GC after getting to watch infinite ads for a time last year, I have been trying to help out on recent special events by completing with minimum upgrades to provide another data point.

Without having benefited from the endless ads, I'd have given up on RR3 after the first NASCAR update because it would have been impossible to maintain 100% progress.

Re: a different game on Android vs. iOS, it seems to vary even on the same platform. I have completed every special event, and some have been very easy vs. what others report experiencing and some have been insanely difficult compared to the majority of reports. I have been playing RR3 on an iPad Mini for 2-plus years. Device size affects one's ability to be precise from my experimenting. With the same settings as on my 8" tablet, RR3 is harder to me playing on both my wife's larger iPad Air 2 and my daughter's much smaller iPod Touch. I don't think it is possible to be as precise on a phone or smaller device as it is on a tablet- think of it as having a steering wheel of different diameters, on the smaller device, it is harder to make small steering inputs. I think eventually with practice the larger iPad would have been even more precise than my Mini, but I only spent an hour or two playing on my wife's Air and have 2,000+ hours getting used to the necessary inputs on my Mini.

The one thing I do religiously on special events is trying to slow the bots, from the very first day and event, and that seems to help a lot- the events that have been difficult for me have been ones where bot slowing did not work at all (ASTON MARTIN Gauntlet is one that I remember bot slowing not working.)

Sweet @ 83.1 PR , only R$ upgrades..

Spent 65 GC total for skipping 6.3 & 7.1 ( 30 + 35 )

Won back 100 + 20 (ads) , got a level up in between too for 25 GC :D

Net gain ~ 50 GC plus a 650 GC car.

Bring on FORD \m/

Won this car with 83.9 PR without any skipping of goals. Upgrades pattern is 2412121.

Only 75 golds invested on gold upgrades while rest are R$.

Total reward of event i got 100 golds and invested 75 golds so profit of 25 golds plus new ferrari car with 83.9 PR. I am really happy now. Already completed stage 1 of FORD car.

But remember with low PR last stage 7 some goals are really tough and it test your skills and precise driving but also it's not impossible it's doable. Best of luck all players.

2.2 is Cup at Catalunya. Top 2 bots are Zoe and Magnus. They pushed me, but it wasn't too difficult to win. Suggested PR is still 77.9, which hasn't changed from stage 1.

2.3 is Speed Record at Suzuka. Speed to beat was 179.5 mph (USA, sorry I don't know the conversion to KPH). I did a U- turn at the start so I could have the entire homestretc. Reached 181 mph easily

2.4 is a Drag Race. Not attempted yet as I'm waiting for stage 1 upgrades to finish so I can start stage 2 upgrades. Suggested PR is still 77.9, same as the start. I'm guessing Day 3 will show increase in suggested PR

A quick note as well. Looking at the way the recommended PR is creeping up slowly for these 1st 3 Stages, I'm hoping maybe they are looking to mirror a recommended PR close to the 86.4 that we had for the Porsche and C7.R events. That would be helpful as it likely would mean we may be able to win with an even lower PR and save some GC. I'll see if I can put together a chart to map it out and get a guesstimate.

Autocross Event at Laguna Seca - Pretty basic autocross event here, appears to be a fixed goal as well. I didn’t have much trouble since I’m well above the recommended PR currently. My 1st round R$ upgrades completed overnight and 2nd round R$ upgrades are in R&D, recommended PR 77.9

  • 2.2 3:36.677 v 3:36.910

2 Lap Cup at Catalunya with Magnus and Zoe on track. Must win and overtake 9 times (with 7 competitors) – This one was a bit fun, made it to 1st place fairly easily, and then I played around with Magnus and Zoe. I took out each of them and Tremble moved into 2nd place. I took him out as well, and there were Zoe and Magnus again. So, I took both of them out once again. I continued this game until about halfway through Lap 2 where I held my place to avoid making a bad move and losing the race. Tremble was in 2nd and I slowed along the final stretch to reel him in and finished 6yds ahead with Zoe in 3rd and Magnus in 4th, recommended PR 77.9

  • 2.3 178.03 mph(286.51kph) v 177.7 mph(285.98kph)

Speed Record at Suzuka – Pretty straightforward event once again. I had no trouble hitting the goal with my normal suite of assists on, didn’t have to resort to brake assist off, TC off, or U-Turns to reach the goal. I actually could have hit it twice in the lap, but once I hit it the first time, I made sure not to surpass it again in order to keep my speed pretty close to the goal, recommended PR 77.9.

  • 2.4 10.874s v 10.973s

Drag Race at Dubai – I was in need of servicing at this point, but decided to give it a go and see what happened. I managed to win on my 1st attempt, no timing tricks used either, just good old-fashioned hand-eye coordination. I actually had to slow a bit for each race as well in order to not win by too much. Car is servicing and ready for Stage 3, recommended PR 77.9

The game has an error in the description of 3.4. It said something to the effect of the tires are wearing out. It made it sound like the tires were going to get worse and worse as the race went on, which makes sense. There was a challenge like this in Pursuit of Victory for the 2015 LMP1 cars.

INSTEAD

The tires acted like they were cold and needed to heat up. It started at 0% and very quickly got up to 100%. Then the car drove like normal, although I never noticed it driving that bad. I took it easy on the first 2 corners just in case. There were challenges in the past where this also happened (NASCAR I believe). But on those challenges, you were told your tires needed to warm up.

No big deal, they just got it wrong.

3.3 Elimination at Panorama. Only 4 cars. Recommended PR is 79.5. Only pass one car each 20 seconds. Top three cars stayed bunched together, so only passing one was a little difficult, but not too bad. Race was over before we reached the top of the hill. Still have 6 bars of green

3.4 3 lap Cup at Panorama. IRecommended PR is 80.1. ntro said something about degrading tires, but I didn't notice anything unusual. Opponents were traditional bots - JKR, the freak, morkring, etc. There were a few 488 GTE (2016)s, but most of the cars were olderr Ferraris - 458s, and 599s, or Fords - GTs and Shelbys. Easy win. Autocross at Mt. Panorama with no skidding - I finished at 53.559 after stopping at the finish to burn off a few seconds. Finished 1st try without much trouble, recommended PR 79.0

  • 3.3

Elimination at Mt. Panorama, required to be no better than 2nd last place - Won 1st try easily, was not as bad as I had expected. I just picked my way through the group (only 3 opponents), moving ahead of one until they were eliminated, then moving on to overtake the next one, etc. Probably helped that I am still well above the recommended PR at the moment, recommended PR 79.5.

3 lap Cup at Mt. Panorama with degrading tires - Pretty easy event, not sure if they set up the tires correctly. They started at 0% and moved up to 100%, opposite of what the description claims. I did notice that going off-track or stopping caused the percentage to decrease, adding to the assumption that the tires are warming up, not degrading. In any case, I had no trouble with the tires. I was in 1st place about halfway through the 1st lap and then I spent the next lap reeling in and taking out the competitors behind me. From the downhill straight on the 2nd lap through the 3rd lap, I just went all-out. I ended up picking up about a 1200yd lead. I stopped at the finish to allow 2nd place to catch up and I finished about 60-80yds ahead. 6:15.020 vs. LOLOLOL at 6:16.040 in 2nd place, recommended PR 80.1

4.4 is Endurance using GTE car. Recommended PR is 80.7. Target was 5.3 miles (again sorry for no conversion to km). Bot-slowing didn't work. Trick in this challenge is to win with average speed of 118 mph. Easy to get the average speed and distance. i tried to stop after I reached the winning distance, but my average speed dropped below 118 and I failed. 2nd attempt I kept going to keep average up, ended with about 10 miles. (Hope this doesn't supercharge the bots tomorrow!)

  • 4.1 1st 2:02.5 v 2:03.3 Partanen, my PORSCHE is upgraded with R$, so had no problem vs stock bots, I had 10 hits of 200 kph by the end of Kammel Straight, chased down the bots and passed them. Recommended PR 88.9, used 4 bar of damage, 6 red remaining so serviced.
  • 4.2 1:58.8 v ~2:00 Liu driving a NISSAN GT-R LM NISMO (2015), this took 3 attempts, the first one I nosedived a barrier and took ages to get out, the 2nd I was too slow approaching the line, I thought the bot was further away, 3rd time I didn’t slow for the bot. Recommended PR 88.9, used 7 bar of damage, 2 remaining, serviced.
  • 4.3 1st 2:04.5 v 2:05.7 Tungus driving a PORSCHE 919 HYBRID (2015), managed to PIT the bot at the start, and easily maintained a small lead. Recommended PR 90.1, used 4 bar of damage, 18 remaining.
  • 4.4 1st 9.1 km v 8.5 Borchard, the bots were forming groups, so 1.5 laps was not a problem, I did a U turn at Les Combes and ran the wrong way down the Kammel Straight, then U turned once more and went back up, maintaining 189 kph was no problem. Recommended PR ,used 9 bar of damage

Real Racing 3 Reign Supreme Stage 8 Goal 4

Le Mans:Ford

Stage 4 Goal 1 (4.1)

This one requires racers to reach 125 mph 10 times before winning. When I get to the last turns before the Start/Finish, if I've already gotten the 10 times, it makes keeping the finishing gap smaller, since you don't need to rush back up to 125 mph. So, coming out of turns, if I have a lead gap, when I get to 125, I lift and return below it, then speed off, to add some to the count.

Stage 4 Goal 2 (4.2)

This goal requires racers to win the race in the reverse direction of the two opponent racers. This was a goal in the Regera event, five months ago. I've attached a video I posted on YouTube. Reviewing it helped me remember the brake points for the track in reverse. In summary, braking later going up hill on the first leg, while going the reverse direction—braking later than when going down the hill. When meeting the other cars, it happens before the back most part of the track. When arriving at that point the cars will be on the left side of the track. If you want to avoid colliding, be on the right side. :)  The next turn, brake at the beginning of the rumble strip on the left and use the start of the rumble strips, from that point on. Some on the first leg, the point is half way into the strips. The back straight—which is usually the front straight—the valley, I call it. First, make the run on the straight start well, having a good last turn. Second, stay left around the slight bend left, brake at the start of the rumble strip, right after that slight bend, then start keeping right. Get back on the gas on the way down the hill, when you have your aim on the low point of the valley. Then, coming to the last hairpin turn, brake on one or two starting boxes before the rumble strip starts, so the final turn can be more under control. In my video of this race, to be posted in about six hours (8 am Eastern) I go off track, but I had enough speed on the first leg to overcome that error.

Stage 4 Goal 3 (4.3)

This is a just win goal. Pass one or both of the opponents on the first hairpin, and the last opponent, pass by the bottom of the valley, or on the chicane after the long straight and you'll be in control of the rest of the race.

Stage 4 Goal 4 (4.4)

I haven't run the race, but I saw the PR was 80.7, which is .6 up from Stage 3 Goal 4 (3.4) Not like the difference between stage 2 and 3, which was 2.2!

I raced it with my standard suite of assists, Tilt A, Brakes Low, Steering Low, TC On. I also managed to have a clean lap up until the Ford Chicane where I went off-track slightly and invalidated my lap time (but still passed the level since an invalid lap doesn't matter).

Just wanted to say that completing a lap under 3:15 with R$ upgrades is quite doable as many others have stated as well.

That said, I'm still planning to add GC upgrades soon as I know I'll need them. I was just curious if I could complete this lap with just the R$ upgrades.

While it is apparently doable with just R$ upgrades, it's clear that GC upgrades are needed for Stage 6, and certainly Stage 7 as well. So, if you are having trouble, it's probably best to add some GC upgrades now since there are some follow-up R$ upgrades which take 2 days to complete also (not counting 20% off for ads).

Goal 6.1: Cup at Circuit des 24 Heures (Evening) [1 lap] (Rolling start) - Finish in at least 12th place (with 15 units of fuel and using Tilt/Wheel B) - Recommended PR84.6

RR3 Michael P wrote:
Tilt B is used unless the user's default Controls is Wheel A/B.

The trick is to lift and coast into the turns, it is surprising how much speed can be carried through the turns, try not to use the brakes, unless you have to, starting 9th, so a few cars can pass, if too many pass turn assists off (in particular brakes) into the final chicane, and it can be straight lined.

Goal 6.2: Cup at Circuit des 24 Heures (Night) (Rolling start) [1 lap] - Finish without being overtaken or going off-track - Recommended PR85.3

RR3 Michael P wrote:
This is the fixed 'you must upgrade goal' as soon as the top speed is reached the lap is green flagged. It is a rolling starting leading onto the Mulsanne straight, just dab the brakes to get a good exit onto the straight, if the top speed is close turn brake assist off. The first straight is the longest, if you don't make it quit and try again. Don’t worry about bots.

User:RR3 Michael P wrote:
There is some sort of rounding between mph and kph, switch to mph (Settings > Display > Display Speed: MPH), turn off all assists (or at a minimum brakes off), keep accelerating, all the way to the barrier, don't brake, good luck.

RomGuyony wrote:
It's converted from mph, so you actually need to hit slightly above 341. Just reaching 341.0 won't be enough, you need to reach closer to 341.2. Just keep trying, entry onto the Mulsanne straight is key, don't waste acceleration by weaving and aim for the right side of the barrier at the first chicane. Assists off will help reach a higher potential, too

Goal 6.4: Cup at Circuit des 24 Heures (Night) [2 laps] (Rolling start) - Finish in at least 10th place without going off-track (with overheating Engine) - Recommended PR86.6

RR3 Michael P wrote:
This is another lift and coast into the turn event, under acceleration the car will overheat, when lifting the car will cool, when parked the car cools quickly. If you can get in front of the 10th place car, park in a chicane to cool the engine, then blast to the next one.

BeepBeep60Sports wrote:
The key to 6.4 is at the start drive very very slow, to slow the rest of the cars, just like the start of the real Lemans. Then at the last turn to the start accelerate out. As you go through the first couple of turns glide and you'll get the gap and needed under heating to race full out on the straight. From there it's just managing the gap and not overheating.

RR3 Michael P wrote:
Try switching to Tilt B, lift and coast into the turns, the engine will cool when not accelerating. I used buttons, so had to park in every chicane, see my report below, watch how Ray Hon does it on youtube:

RomGuyony wrote:
Coast into the corners, rather than braking for them, especially the ones right before a long straight, so you can be on the power for most of it. To coast, you'll need to select Tilt B (or Wheel B if that floats your boat) and stop accelerating a lot earlier than where you would brake. It feels really slow but you'll realise most of the time you're still going too fast when you're actually at the corner. It's possible to win it with 4 upgrades, 2 each on Engine and Drivetrain on top of the R$ upgrades

Goal 6.5: Cup at Circuit des 24 Heures (Night) [1 lap] (Rolling start) - Cross the finish line within 1:40, going no more than 60 mph (95 kph) - Recommended PR87.3

RR3 Michael P wrote:
Odd one this, starting about 2/3 the way around the lap, go flat out until the finish line and brake, you must be under 60 mph (95 kph) crossing the line. Turn brake assist off to straight line the final chicane, if required.

Goal 1 : Manual control with fuel limitation, not a problem

Goal 2 : Easy, there is no LMP1 car

Goal 3 : Start from Mulsanne Straight, the game ended as soon as hitting the target speed. You can ride reverse for a bit to have more distance to accelerate if you do have not enough PR.

Goal 4 : Recommand to use manual control to avoid engine overheat. Just like Goal 1, not a problem.

You may need repair here.

Done with PR 86.1, upgrades 4422221. Nothing too crazy on day 7, but these events are becoming a lot more like gauntlets. Almost every race on day 7 involved not going off track.

Also, you can't go on to win the next car as quick as you want to. I did day 1 and wanted to do day 2 right away but I couldn't. The screen came up saying more goals tomorrow. I don't know if this is a glitch. I thought there was only 5 days left to get the next car. That's impossible with this format.

  • 7.1 14th 3:49 v 1st 3:20 Merle, this was a nightmare on the NOX, my keyboard doesn’t do Tilt B, so save and restored to my old Hudl, still took three attempts, I kept either tangling with a bot or cutting a corner, a little corner cutting is allowed, off track is red flagged, recommended PR 88.0, used 12 bar of damage 12 remaining.
  • 7.2 6th 10:20 v 9:41 Merle, starting 14th, needed to finish at least 6th, back on NOX, with brakes off to begin with, after several attempts (lost track of how many) I managed to slip passed the bots and then maintained a small lead, I turned brakes high to keep the car on track, turning it low, if Magnus in 7th got close, there wasn't much in it, recommended PR 88.0, used 12 bar of damage, 0 remaining, serviced.
  • 7.3 1st 6:12 v 6:12 Magnus, this was easier, starting 6th, driving onto the Mulsanne straight, so almost 2 laps, probably could have defended my place and finished 6th, but it was good to get 1st, Magnus was slow, his brakes were close to being on high. He was also slightly slower down the straights. Again, once I had a good lead I turned brakes high to keep the lap clean, recommended PR 88.0 , used 11 bar of damage, 13 remaining.
  • 7.4 6th 4:27.8 v 3:18 Liu, this again took several attempts, practice, practice, practice, 42min between saves, if I can do this with my NOX emulator and a keyboard, other racers can definitely do it, in the end I managed to PIT one bot and he tangled with the others, leaving a small gap ~50 m, the tires went from 0% to 90%, didn't notice much difference, I was taking my time into the final chicane. Top speed reduced to 311 kph, braking to 31.1m and grip 1.67g, Starting in 8th,2/3rd into the lap, so 1.1/3 laps to run, recommended PR 88.0, used 8 bar of damage, 5 red remaining, serviced.
  • 7.5 4th 6:46 v 6:31 Tungus, starting 8th, need to finish 4th, again for the fuel saving goals I transferred to my old Hudl, Tilt B, brakes low, TC on. I could easily get to 4th, I even had a go at getting passed the LMP1 cars in 1st-3rd, I passed 3rd and had an off, it can be done, another run I had a slight laps of concentration, 200 m+ lead going into the final chicane on the last lap, and cut the corner, red flag :( in the end I just got into 4th and held a comfortable lead, had over 500 m lead, then slowed and lifted more, finished with over 2 units of fuel remaining. Recommended PR 88.0, used 12 bar of damage, 31 min between saves.
  • 7.6 1st 3:35.8 v 3:36.7 Altamura, starting 5th, behind Magnus and Zoe, I PIT Zoe and held up Magnus, then went after the two leading FERRARI’s, I passed them in Amarge, then took my time to the end, recommended PR 88.0, used 6 bar of damage, 5 remaining. Completed 1st attempt on the Hudl. Tilt B, brakes low, TC on.

Footnotes[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 The way FM display the date isn't very clear, they use a rounding factor. The days and hours remaining, to start, is changing at mid day or on the half hour. The closing date and time displayed is a cautious closing date and time.

The best time to start is late in the day local time, as the next stage opens at midnight local time.

If the event is started 11PM June 14th (local time), the event can be completed 7x24 hours later, 11PM June 21st. Allowing almost two full days to complete the last stage. As long as the second run is started before 22nd June, it can be run. The second run will also take 7x24 hours.
