Italian motor manufacturer ALFA ROMEO has participated in FORMULA 1® intermittently since its inception. It was represented by the ALFA ROMEO RACING ORLEN team operated by SAUBER MOTORSPORT AG until 2021. The brand has competed in motor racing as both a constructor and engine supplier sporadically between 1950 and 1987, and later as a commercial partner since 2015. The company's works drivers won the first two World Drivers' Championships in the pre-war Alfetta: Nino Farina in 1950; and Juan Manuel Fangio in 1951.
The team currently competes as ALFA ROMEO F1® TEAM STAKE in 2023. At the end of the 2023 season, ALFA ROMEO ended their six-year partnership with SAUBER. In the 2024 season, SAUBER would rebrand itself as STAKE F1® TEAM KICK SAUBER.
The last driver line-up consisted of Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu. Bottas filled in the spot of the retiring Kimi Räikkönen after the end of the 2021 season. Zhou, a FORMULA 2 graduate, is the first F1® driver to represent mainland China fills in for Antonio Giovinazzi after his transition to FORMULA E, while Giovinazzi is currently a reserve driver for HAAS, FERRARI, and ALFA ROMEO itself due to his contract with FERRARI.
